  Early Career

Starting as a porter at a new car dealership, Ray quickly advanced to become a parts counterman and later assistant parts manager at a high-volume Cadillac dealership, where he managed their B2B wholesale operations.

  Collision Repair Management

At age 28, Ray transitioned into collision repair management, taking on increasing responsibilities:

• Led a major facility expansion from 2,000 to 10,000 square feet
• Developed comprehensive service integration across dealership departments
• Built and managed relationships with dealer customers, fleet accounts, and internal departments
• Orchestrated successful coordination between parts, service, and sales operations

  Industry Leadership

Ray's commitment to industry advancement led to several key positions:

• District Chair for the West Michigan I-CAR Committee
• Multiple leadership roles in the West Michigan Bodyshop Association (WMBA), including Vice President, President, and Chairman
• Served as an expert witness for legal proceedings in automotive cases

• Vice President of Automotive Service Association of Michigan (ASAM)
• President of ASAM (2010-2018)
• Executive Director of Automotive Service Association (ASA) (2019-2021)

• Successfully updated the Motor Vehicle Service & Repair Act of 1974 (MVSRA)
• Reversed Michigan's legacy law on sales tax for returned cores
• Developed and supported successful autonomous vehicle legislation
